Before going to the Manila International Book Fair, I made 2 promises to myself:
- I will only BUY 3 books (yan ang maximum!)
- I will NOT buy Jomar Hilario’s Virtual Careers Book
Why I Promised Not to Buy Jomar Hilario’s Virtual Careers Book
Kasi ganito yun…
Reason #1: I already attended Jomar’s Virtual Assistant Seminar, plus his VA 101, VA202.
Reason #2: I am also a membr of his mentoring groups like the Online Mentoring Club, instant Virtual Skills and his Marketing Success Formula.
Reason #3: Plus, I also attend his Monday webinars and volunteer in his events. (Kulang na lang I also stay in Rosewood as I can count in my hand the number of times I miss his events or live meet ups)
Reason #4: Also, I am already a Virtual Professional with multiple clients. (Do I really need to read his book?)
Reason #5: Lastly, I am already living the promise stated in the Virtual Careers Book:
- Earn In Dollars At Home – check – Yes, hundreds of his students are living evidences, me included
- Eliminate Daily Stress – check – I have said good bye to EDSA daily traffic 2.5 years J
- Embrace Your Family More – check – I am enjoying spontaneous dates with the 2 Men In My Life J
So, why do I need pa to buy Jomar Hilario’s Virtual Careers Book?
I confidently headed to the book fair with my friends Shawi, Nina, Ann, Noemi, Nath, Dha, Vennie and met up with Eric and Mannix at the Manila International Book Fair.
Imagine this in slow motion:
I got one book (a friend asked me to buy her a copy)… had it signed by the author…
And surprise, surprise! I graaaaabbbbbbbed (slow motion di ba?) another copy and had it signed by Jomar (my own copy, sus!) Next time Shawi, wag tayong tabi sa book signing ha!
3 Things You Will Love In Jomar Hilario’s Virtual Careers Book
Okay, I broke my promise … I eventually bought my own copy of Jomar Hilario’s Virtual Careers Book… scanned it all night and had fun!
It’s like attending my very first Virtual Assistant Seminar in June 2012, only this time it’s on paper 🙂
So, here are the Top 3 Things You Will Love in Jomar Hilario’s Virtual Careers Book
Virtual Careers Love #1: Chapter Four on Desks
This is top on my list of fave chapters as it starts with my most favorite holiday of the year: Christmas!
Chapter 4 of Jomar Hilario’s Virtual Careers Book tells you the right equipment you need to have if your are serious in your virtual career.
Let me tell you that some of you may be turned off by the items in Jomar’s Christmas List of Equipment (kasi you may still be in the poor me mindset), but it’s good to aspire to have these things.
Note: These are Christmas gifts you are giving to yourself – time for you to enjoy a gift naman di ba?
Some of these gifts include a Logitech Solar powered Wireless Keyboard, SSD, speakers (to feed your mind with positive music and audiobooks)… more on this on pages 59-67. Read it and celebrate Christmas many times in a year!
PLUS, it has a tip on how you can save your eyesight even if you use your computer 8 hours a day (wink wink)
Virtual Careers Love #2: Chapter 5 on Dollars
While reading, I kept nodding my head saying, “Oo nga naman!”
When it comes to income and receiving payments, Virtual Professionals are asking the wrong question.
We should stop ask the WRONG Question: How often do virtual professionals get paid?
Instead, we should be asking the Right Question: When do you get paid. Yes, you decide.
You have questions about payments, paypal, payoneers, go to page 69 of Jomar Hilario’s Virtual Careers Book
Virtual Careers Love #3: Chapter 7 on Positioning
Two years ago, I complained to Jomar that I already received 85 rejections in Odesk then. I must be doing something wrong.
His Advice: Change your positioning, you are marketing yourself the wrong way
Now, 2 years after, I’m in my right niche as an Online Team Strategist and Virtual Professional Manager
Bottomline: You have to have a Name and a Story, just like the story of the Journey Diamond.
You want to find out how to best market yourself to the right clients, read Chapter 7 SEVERAL TIMES!
If you are a newbie, don’t get stuck with the theme or design of your VA blog… or if you’re going to get free or hosted wordpress… or cost of buying hosting or domain names, or stress over the layout of your blog or the widgets to put on your side bar or spend hundreds of hours stalking the blog of others.
STOP IT. Spend only at most 2 hours on those stuff. Focus on creating your name and story. This will be your ticket to stand out among the others.
Virtual Careers Love BONUS #1
If you are a newbie creating your online portfolio or you are already a VA leveling up your online portfolios:
It is a must that you read page 134, Your Secret Weapon To Get That Online Job.
Here’s the secret: 100 page tutorial
Oh, you think that’s too much?
Try thinking of the number of years you had to endure the daily stress of traffic, compare this to the 100 slides, you still think it’s too much?
Or think of the number of days that you are not beside your loved one, kasi you are either an OFW or an employee stuck in office meetings. Think in terms of the number of days, hours, and minutes you are away. I bet you it’s more than 1,000 days.
Think of the math involved here: If you will just do 1 slide a day, you are moving closer and closer to your dream, compare this to doing nothing or stressing over the other immaterial stuff (domain, WP free or paid, themes and designs, slow laptop, etc.) that stop you from moving forward.
If Jomar will slap you with a salmon in the face, I’ll slap you with a Logitech Solar Powered Wireless Keyboard, okies?
Ready ka na to do the 100 slides? Read Chapter 12: Research.
Virtual Careers Love BONUS #2

Like I said, it’s like attending my very first Virtual Assistant Seminar in June 2012, only this time it’s on paper 🙂
